Indian ambassador H E Sibi George confirmed that the Covid shield vaccine manufactured in India is among the approved vaccines in Kuwait. The vaccine AstraZeneca Oxford is the same as the Indian Covid shield, Al-Rai reported.
The ambassador reiterated that the vaccine is globally recognized and that India has also sent a batch of 200,000 doses of it to Kuwait last February.
He stressed that there is no problem with the return of Indian workers from his country to Kuwait, if their vaccination certificates mention the word (AstraZeneca) in the field of the name of the vaccine, noting that India is considered one of the largest manufacturers of vaccines.
The ambassador added that the AstraZeneca – Covishield vaccine is developed by the laboratories of AstraZeneca and the British Oxford University, and is manufactured in India by the Serum Institute of India, which is one of the major institutes in the production of vaccines in the world.
