India topped the Asian Youth Athletics Championships 2022 medals table with 24 medals- 6 Gold, 11 Silver and 7 Bronze in the fourth edition of the biennial athletics competition for Asian athletes aged 15 to 17 – that was held at the Al Kuwait Kaifan Stadium in Kuwait City from 13 to 16 October 2022.
A total of 35-member Indian contingent competed in the Asian Youth Athletics Championship 2022. India which finished in second place in the previous edition held in 2019 in Hong Kong, emerged as a winner and topped the medal tally this time.
In the 2022 edition, Kuldeep Kumar won India’s first medal, a bronze in the boys’ pole vault. He cleared a personal best effort of 4.80m. Also, India’s first gold medal was won by Akash Yadav in the boys’ shot put with an effort of 19.37m.
