Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday that one day death due to COVID-19 is 265 people and the number of positive cases are 7,964 as the fourth lockdown extension is coming to an end tomorrow.

The ministry of health said that total number of deaths so far stands at 4,971 and there are 173,763 positive cases out of which 86,422 are active and 82,370 were cured.

Maharashtra has considered the worst-hit state as the number of deaths reached 2,098 and positive cases jumped to 62,228 followed by Gujarat with 980 deaths and 15,934 positive cases.

New Delhi and Tamil Nadu are other worst-affected states as the deadly virus hit 35 Indian states. The spike in number of deaths and infections is coming amid Indian authorities are getting ready for more relaxation in the fifth phase of lockdown as the fourth phase of lockdown is coming to an end tomorrow.
