Up to 1,201 people died due to the novel coronavirus (COVID19) while 97,570 positive cases were reported from different parts of the country in the last 24 hours, official sources said on Saturday. The death toll due to coronavirus in the country mounted to 77,472 while the total number of positive cases rose to 4,659,984, according to the sources at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The ministry sources have added that 3,624,196 people have recuperated from the pandemic as it has spread to 35 Indian states, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, Bihar, Telangana and Assam are the worst-hit states in the Asian nation. Recently, the government has issued new guidelines for the fourth phase of unlock under which metro trains will be allowed to resume services in a graded manner. The new guidelines have also relaxed political, social and religious gatherings.

However, schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed along with cinema halls, swimming pools, theatres and other similar places. Restrictions imposed on containment zones will also remain operational until another notice.
