Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on Sunday that there were 120 fresh deaths and 4987 new infections due to COVID-19 in the country as the third phase of lockdown ends today.

The ministry said in its morning update that with 120 new deaths the death toll from coronavirus infection rose to 2,872 while the number of positive cases climbed to 90,927 with 4,987 fresh cases.

So far, 34,109 people were discharged from hospitals after they recovered. Maharashtra is considered the worst-hit Indian state with 1,135 deaths and 30,706 positive cases followed by Gujarat with 625 deaths and 10,988 positive cases as the pandemic hit 33 Indian states.

The third phase of lockdown in the country is coming to an end tonight as the government is getting ready to announce the fourth extension of the lockdown with more relaxations.

In the third phase of lockdown areas not affected by the corona virus were given some relaxation while several restrictions were strictly implemented across the nation.
