Indian Educational School (IES) Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan conducted the Investiture ceremony for the academic year 2019-20 at the school auditorium on 2 May.  The 17 newly elected members of the ‘Supreme Council’ of the school along with prefects, house captains, vice-captains, junior captains and ‘blossoms’ were formally invested with the office of authority.

The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Samargiul Adamkulova, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan, and Guest of honour Reaven D’ Souza, the Managing Editor of The Times Kuwait. The program commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the Kuwait National Anthem and the prayer song by the school choir. The ceremony was attended by the parents of the Supreme Council, the teachers and the students of classes 11 and 12.

BSS cadets and the student council saluted the chief guest as she walked on the red carpet and was escorted to the auditorium by the Principal,  T. Premkumar, Anselma Tessy, the senior Vice Principal, Jaemi Byju, the Vice Principal, middle wing, Lalitha Premkumar, the primary Vice Principal,  and Meenakshi Nayyar, the Vice Principal, CCA. The Student Supreme Council marched to the auditorium in sync with the band music.  The Bhavanites welcomed the chief guest with a standing ovation. A video presentation of the life and achievements of Samargiul Adamkulova was screened in the auditorium while welcoming her.

In the implementation of accession,  badges and sashes of honor were bestowed to the new student council headed by the Head Boy (Daniel Thomas Koleth, 11 A), the Head Girl (Liana Maria Joseph, 11 A) the Junior Head Boy (Enoch Sam Abraham, Grade 4 I) the Junior Head Girl (Prisha Prabhakar, Grade 4 I), the Deputy Head Boy (Dave Rino, 9G), the Deputy Head Girl (Farah Noorjahan Sahim, 9C), the Cultural Secretaries, the Deputy Cultural Secretaries, the Sports Captain, the Deputy Sports Captains, the Public Relation Officers, and the Student Editor was executed  by the chief guest Samrgiul Adamkulova, along  with  the  Principal, T.  Premkumar.  The house Captains of Satya, Seva, Sanskriti and Tapas also received their flags and badges from the Chief Guest.  The vice house captains, the prefects, and blossoms received their badges from the Vice Principals, the housemasters, and the HoDs.

The newly elected Student Council took the oath of office administered by the Principal, Mr. Premkumar. The head girl and the head boy delivered their acceptance speeches.

The chief guest in her address to the audience extolled the students for the smooth conduct of the program under the guidance of their dynamic principal. She was in awe of the democratic e-voting and praised the efforts of the school for instilling the sense of democracy in the students through a transparent voting system. She extended her sincere gratitude for the warm welcome given to her. She inspired the students with leadership qualities and  also spoke about the need to preserve the environment in general and particularly ‘the project white leopard conservation.’

The Principal presented a memento, as a token of gratitude to the chief guest for which in return, Madam Samargiul, presented a handicraft souvenir, from her country to the Principal. Malavika Krishna, of grade 11 delivered the welcome speech and Aaliya Sageer, the former head girl proposed the vote of thanks.

The emcees of the day were Jayden Daniel of grade 10 and Sana Nazim Parkar of grade 11. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Indian National Anthem.
