His Majesty Omani Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik today issued two Royal Decrees, the first of which issued the Basic Law of the State, and the second issued was regarding the Law of the Council of Oman.
Decree No. 6 of 2021, which promulgates a new Basic Law for the state, included “setting up a specific and stable mechanism for the transfer of the mandate of government in the Sultanate, and establishing a mechanism for appointing the Crown Prince, stating his duties and powers, and affirming the principle of the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary as a basis for governance in the state.”
