His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met this Friday afternoon His Excellency President Xi Jinping, President of the friendly People’s Republic of China, at the West Lake “Xi Hu” Guest House in the Chinese city of Hangzhou.

His Highness conveyed to His Excellency the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and officially invited the Chinese President to visit the State of Kuwait, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The meeting touched on the historical bilateral relations extending for more than 50 years that bind the two countries and the two friendly peoples, and ways to support and develop them in various fields in a way that contributes to achieving mutual benefit and common interests, raising the level of well-being of the two friendly peoples, enhancing ways of progress and development, and seeking to consolidate the strategic partnership in an effort to consolidate the prospects for cooperation between the two friendly countries.

The discussions encompassed consultation and coordination on vital matters of shared interest, delving into the latest developments on regional and international stages. The exchange of perspectives on these matters transpired in an amicable atmosphere, underscoring the profound bond between the leaderships of both nations and the spirit of understanding and friendship that unites the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China.

This reflects their mutual desire to bolster bilateral cooperation across all spheres and advance it in diverse domains.
During the event, significant bilateral agreements were formalized between the State of Kuwait and the esteemed People’s Republic of China, outlined as follows:

First Agreement: A joint statement detailing the five-year plan for bilateral cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China for the years 2024-2028. The document was signed on the Kuwaiti side by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and on the Chinese side by a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Second Agreement: A memorandum of understanding between the Kuwait Municipality in the State of Kuwait and the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China, focusing on collaboration in the realm of green, low-carbon waste recycling systems. Signed on the Kuwaiti side by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and on the Chinese side by Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, Zheng Shanjie.

Third Agreement: A memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Public Works of the State of Kuwait and the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China, concerning cooperation in the environmental infrastructure domain, particularly wastewater treatment plants. The signatories included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, from Kuwait and Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, Zheng Shanjie, from China.

Fourth Agreement: A memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy of the State of Kuwait and the National Energy Administration of the People’s Republic of China, focusing on collaboration in the electric power system and the development of renewable energy. The agreement was signed on the Kuwaiti side by the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al-Astad, and on the Chinese side by Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, Cheng Shan. Fifth Agreement: A memorandum of understanding between the governments of the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China regarding cooperation in the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project. The agreement was signed on the Kuwaiti side by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil, and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Dr. Saad Hamad Al-Barrak, and on the Chinese side by the Minister of Transport, Li Xiaopeng.

Sixth Agreement: A memorandum of understanding between the Direct Investment Promotion Authority in the State of Kuwait and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, emphasizing collaboration in the free zones and economic zones domain. The signatories were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, from Kuwait, and the Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao, from China.

Seventh Agreement: A memorandum of understanding between the Public Authority for Housing Welfare in the State of Kuwait and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, focusing on cooperation in the field of housing development. The signing took place on the Kuwaiti side with the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Faleh Abdullah Al-Rakba, and on the Chinese side with the Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao. — KUNA
