His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Wednesday patronized the final ceremony for honoring winners of Kuwait 22nd Grand Contest for Quranic Memorization and Recitation at Bayan Palace Theater.
His Highness the Amir was deputized by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah at the broad ceremony.The representative of His Highness the Amir was warmly welcomed at the ceremony venue by the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Fahad Ali Al-Shula.
The ceremony was attended by National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and senior State officials.It began with playing the National Anthem, followed with Quranic recitation, then the Minister addressed the attendees.
Minister Al-Shula noted that the contest has reached its 22nd year due to the kind sponsorship by His Highness the Amir and his keenness on upbringing a new generation, manners of whom are in line with the Quran. Greeting His Highness Sheikh Nawaf, the minister declared that 1,901 people took part in the 2019 contest and number of winners reached 204.
Elaborating, he said number of the male winners was at 103, along with 101 female winners, 25 of special cases, 52 from correction facilities and 12 who got 100 grades.The event concluded with His Highness the Amir Representative distributing the awards to the winners. He was presented with a memorial award.
