His Highness, Deputy Amir, and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah have issued a decree to form the Supreme Committee for granting and verification of Kuwaiti citizenship.

The decree, which will be published in the Official Gazette ‘Kuwait Al-Yawm’ today, Sunday, stipulates that the committee will be chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, with a membership of the Minister of Oil, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, the Minister of Education and the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers.

The committee is responsible for receiving citizenship applications for those eligible, granting citizenship, and withdrawing it if it is proven the citizenship was acquired on the strength of forced documents or incorrect data.

The committee is also responsible for receiving requests for citizenship from the following:
1 – Every Kuwaiti who is at least 18 years old, married or single
2 – Every Kuwaiti who is under the age of 18 and is married or has been married before
3 – Every Kuwaiti woman who is at least 18 years old and who is single, widowed, or divorced.
4 – Every Kuwaiti woman under the age of 18 who is widowed or divorced
5 – The application for achieving citizenship shall be submitted on a form prepared by the Nationality Department.
