The number of health treatments overseas shows a steady decline due to the Ministry of Health’s incessant control since 2015. Based on an official statistical report, the number of cases eligible for overseas medical care during the first six months this year totaled 2,238, which was about 4500 cases lower compared to last year, and is expected to not exceed by the end of 2022. According to the gathered data, the number of cases has decreased by approximately 50 percent since the last seven years.

The figures in the statistic are as follows:

· 2238 cases within 6 months of 2022

· 4702 cases in 2021

· 161 cases in 2020 (due to the Covid19 pandemic)

· 5564 cases in 2019

· 6,837 cases in 2018

· 7024 cases in 2017

· 9234 cases in 2016

· 9356 cases in 2015

On a similar note, the Ministry of Health prohibited health agencies abroad from dealing through an intermediary. Sources said that the competencies of these agencies, according to the new ministry structure, include selecting health institutions, hospitals and health care centres with reputable background in accordance with the set standards, and following up on the implementation of contracts and memoranda of understanding with health service providers in the country of headquarters, provided that the contract is directly associated with those health institutions, hospitals, and health care centres.

It is prohibited to deal through an intermediary, whether this intermediary is an individual or a company, while enabling access to integrated health care for citizens receiving treatment abroad, and facilitating related procedures in accordance with the policies regulating treatment abroad.
