The Ministry of Health has taken the first steps to implement the new ministry structure, which is a qualitative leap — a comprehensive reorganization of the ministry’s work mechanisms, after strenuous efforts made by the former Minister of Health, the current minister Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed is taking the first steps to raise the level of health services.

Among the sectors created within the new structure, according to a local Arabic daily are the Digital Health Affairs sector, and the most prominent among the departments, is the Department of Digital Systems, whose tasks will be to work on creating a unified electronic medical file for each patient, so that the patient’s medical records are linked, and any medical authority can have access to the medical file which will make it easy to follow up the patient’s medical history and the treatments given earlier by other medical authorities, whether governmental or in the private sector.

The tasks entrusted to this department, include developing digital health technology to improve health services provided to beneficiaries, developing the work environment in the ministry in accordance with the latest international standards, developing a digital health strategy and action plan in “patient care, linking service providers to all levels of health care, measure the performance of health care, follow the digital health strategy to standardize information systems and operations, and setting up a mechanism to unify the medical file between government and private sectors.

The 5 departments are the Systems Costs Department, Electronic Medical File Department, Software and Application Engineering Department, Databases Department, and Document Processing Department.
