The Ministry of Health and the concerned authorities in the country, such as the insurance companies, are seeking to impose mandatory health insurance on those coming to Kuwait on commercial visit visas.

Reliable sources told a local a local Arabic daily the document has neither been prepared nor approved in its final form, but pointed out this issue is being studied by the ministry and insurance companies.

The sources stated there are initiatives in this context on the part of the health authorities and/or insurance companies, but they have not been approved so far, and the pricing or cost of insurance has not been decided. However, the details are expected to be announced soon.

The sources indicated that the aim of imposing health insurance is to reduce pressure on the health services provided by Kuwait, pointing out that some visitors come to the country to take advantage of the health services provided, such as conducting free surgeries.
