The data issued by the Central Administration of Statistics for the Household Income and Expenditure Survey, shows the average Kuwaiti family spends on welfare and entertainment about 1,625 dinars per month, which constitutes about 49% of household spending per month, without counting the monthly rent of Kuwaiti families who own their homes out of a total expenditure of 3296.6 dinars, compared to about 357 dinars spent by each expatriate family, which constitutes 33.4% of their monthly expenditure, which amounts to 1071.3 dinars on the same expenditures that include personal care, restaurants, entertainment, sports, transportation, clothing, fabrics, shoes, tobacco and its products.

According to other calculations, the average spending of citizens and residents on welfare and entertainment differs if it is measured to the total average income of 3995 dinars per month for a Kuwaiti family and 1131.5 dinars per month for an expatriate family, which means that Kuwaitis spend about 41% of their income on luxury and entertainment, while expatriates spend about 32% of their income on the same issue, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the data, the expenditure of Kuwaiti families on food and beverages amounts to 371.4 dinars per month, which represents 11.3% of their spending, while the expenditure of non-Kuwaiti families on the same item amounts to about 159.8 dinars, which constitutes 14.9% of the total monthly expenditure.

The average expenditure of Kuwaiti families on tobacco and its products amounted to about 32.4 dinars per month, or 1% of their monthly spending, compared to 23.4 dinars per month for expatriate families, or 2.2% of their monthly spending. Monthly spending compared to 100.7 dinars for expatriate families, constituting 9.4% of monthly spending.

The expenses of furnishing and equipping the home for Kuwaiti families recorded 363.5 dinars, which constitutes 11% of the monthly expenditure, compared to 40.3 dinars, which constitutes 3.8% of the monthly expenditure of the expatriate family, while the average expenditure of Kuwaitis on health expenses per month was about 180.3 dinars, which constitutes 5.5%, compared to 41.6 dinars, which constitutes 3.9% of the non-Kuwaiti household spending expenditure.

The average expenditure of Kuwaiti families on transportation reached 408.8 dinars per month, which constitutes 12.4% of total spending, compared to 98.6 dinars per month for expatriate families, which constitute 9.2% of their spending. As for the expenditure of citizen families on information and communications, the monthly average amounted to about 187.6 dinars, which is about 5.7% of spending, compared to 58.4 dinars for expatriate families, 5.5% of spending.

The expenditure of Kuwaiti families on entertainment, sports and culture reached 111 dinars per month, or 3.4%, compared to 17 dinars for expatriate families, or 1.6% of the total monthly expenditure, while Kuwaitis’ monthly spending on education amounted to about 55.8 dinars, or 1.75, compared to 46 dinars for expatriates, or 4.3%. of total spending.

The average expenditure of Kuwaiti families on restaurants and accommodation services amounted to 195.9 dinars per month, which constitutes 5.9% of total spending, compared to 46.8 dinars per month for expatriate families, which constitutes 4.4% of their total spending. As for the spending of citizen families on insurance and financial services, it averaged about 12.7 dinars per month, with an average 0.4% of spending, compared to 7.5 dinars for expatriate families, representing 0.7% of their spending.

And the citizens’ spending on personal care, social protection, and various goods and services amounted to about 381.6 dinars per month, or 11.6% of their total spending, compared to 70.7 dinars per month for expatriate families, or 6.6% of their total spending. As for current transfers, they account for 297.9 dinars per month of spending. Citizens account for 9% of total spending, while expatriate families spend 151.5 dinars per month, accounting for 14.1% of spending.

The data shows that the highest expenditures of citizens according to their percentage of the average monthly expenditures of Kuwaiti families other than housing are concentrated in 5 aspects as follows:

— 15% for clothing and shoes

— 12.4% for “transportation”

— 11.6% for personal care

— 11.3% for foodstuffs

— 11% for furnishing and equipping the dwelling

While the data shows that the highest expenditures of expatriates according to their percentage of the average monthly expenditures of non-housing expatriate families are concentrated in 5 aspects as follows:

— 14.9% for foodstuffs

— 9.4% for clothes and shoes

— 9.25 for transportation

— 6.6% for personal care

— 5.5% for information and communication
