The Ambassador of Guyana to Kuwait H.E. Dr. Shamir Ally hosted a gathering for special invitees and media personnel to mark the 50th Anniversary of his country’s Republic Day at the embassy premises on Sunday, 23 February. A flag hoisting ceremony was part of the celebrations.

In his speech to the audience, the Guyanese Ambassador Ally provided some background of how Guyana secured its Independence from the British. He remarked, “Guyana is on the border of great developments, and has achieved much.” He lauded his country’s achievement for entering the Guinness world records for most stickers on a car.

In his presentation, the Guyanese Ambassador Ally outlined the Decade of Development 2020 – 2029 that Guyana has planned, wherein he highlighted the growth prospects in areas of green, petroleum, digital and education sectors of his country.  He pointed out that a green state means the country will depend on renewable energy, while a petroleum state indicates the country will be producing 800 thousand barrels of oil, and improving the country’s connectivity with regards to digital technology. The ambassador also mentioned that Guyana will become a rising star in future, and this nation with water will move ahead.

Noting that developments are progressing, he underscored that the fourth pillar is education, which will transform the lives of the rich and poor, and transform the nation with Guyana by investing their resources to benefit the country.

Praising the diplomatic relations between Guyana and Kuwait, he noted that there is encouragement for Kuwait visitors to visit Guyana.
