The Committee of Electronic Media Officials in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries called on the “Netflix” platform to remove content that violates the morals and contradicts Islamic and societal principles and values in the GCC countries.
A joint statement issued by the General Authority for Audio-Visual Media and the Committee of Electronic Media Officials stated that, “Due to what was observed in the recent past on the Netflix platform, contact was made with the platform to remove this content, including material directed at children, and to emphasize compliance with the regulations.
The statement stressed that the concerned authorities will follow up on the platform’s compliance with the directives, and in the event Netflix continues to be broadcast undesirable material, necessary legal measures will be taken.
