Grand Hyatt Kuwait, the first Grand Hyatt in the country and the newest for the brand in the region, is proud to celebrate one year of successful operations. Since its debut on 15 August 2022, the 302-room luxury hotel has set the benchmark for quality, style and elegance whilst becoming the destination of choice for guests seeking to discover a collective of social, entertainment, dining and retail experiences in Kuwait.
“During the first, and outstanding year since our doors opened, Grand Hyatt Kuwait has redefined luxury in Kuwait’s hospitality landscape through its exquisite design, bespoke service and unparalleled features and facilities,” said Federico Mantoani, General Manager at Grand Hyatt Kuwait. “We are immensely proud to have collected three globally recognized awards within our first twelve months of operating, a true testimony to the iconic nature of our captivating property and the human spirit contained within.”
In its extraordinary first year, Grand Hyatt Kuwait was named Favourite Business Hotel – MENA in the 2022 Condé Nast Traveler Middle East Readers’ Choice Awards in October 2022, while the hotel’s distinctive architecture and elevated interior design led to it being awarded the Best Architectural Design for the 2022 World Luxury Hotel Awards in December 2022. In May 2023, Grand Hyatt Kuwait was named Best Business Hotel in Kuwait at the Business Traveler Middle East Awards 2023 held in Dubai.
Iconic Design and Immersive Experiences
Towering over the light filled 360 Mall extension, the property boasts contemporary allurement that is distinctive by design and stands as a true urban sanctuary, perfectly positioned as an excursion gateway for destination discovery. Grand Hyatt Kuwait is located on the Sixth Ring Road, just ten minutes (nine kilometres) from Kuwait International Airport.
Situated adjacent to the Rafa Nadal Academy Kuwait, Grand Hyatt Kuwait is also intrinsically connected to the brand new multipurpose indoor ‘The Arena Kuwait’ with a 5,800-seater capacity. Unmatched countrywide, the development allows guests access to an eclectic array of experiences that go well beyond the traditional hotel stay. This Tamdeen Group owned flagship hotel sets the tone for a new era as a beacon of modernity, progress and innovation in Kuwait.
Upon arrival at Grand Hyatt Kuwait, guests step into an immersive setting. The dramatic hotel lobby houses an exceptional art program that celebrates the region, and public spaces provide an elegant and dynamic backdrop for meetings, socializing and relaxation. A distinguished feeling of grandeur is established through a bespoke collection of ultra-luxury furnishings, while the centre of the lobby is anchored by a serene marble water-like feature holding a majestic equine sculpture at the core.
Large-scale artworks were commissioned specifically to fit the theme at Grand Hyatt Kuwait. The ultimate effect is one that offers visitors a chance to experience and engage with some remarkable pieces in a way that could be more intimate than at a museum or gallery setting.
302 Rooms with 302 Works of Art
The guests’ sensation of grandeur is carried with them into their private accommodations. Each one of the hotel’s 302 guest rooms and suites features a large-scale artwork by Tracie Cheng, whose abstract images of soft flowing lines harken to the billowing sails of traditional dhows that sailed across the waters of the Gulf.
Grand Hyatt Kuwait’s gracious rooms feature signature wooden parquet flooring, book-matched marble in the restrooms, floor to ceiling windows, and thoughtfully planned dressing spaces. Sensibly integrated lighting infuses warmth and drama. Custom-forged geometric screens cast shadows at each guestroom entry, giving a subtle nod to the traditional Mashrabiya, a motif that is repeated throughout the architecture of the building.
An urban sanctuary Spa
The tranquil Noor spa and indoor pool is worthy of its own narrative and dialogue. While the design is undoubtedly modern, abstract, and fascinating, it boasts an ancient panache. The design of circular symmetry that contain different spa programs whispers privacy and exclusivity.
Through the use of spherical architecture, the flow accentuates the indoor and outdoor spaces as elements that draw upon the positivity that is created by different forms of sunlight, shadows and soft edges. Noor spa was created with an inviting sense of mindfulness and serenity ensuing into a wellness sanctuary that stands as an oasis removed from the everyday.
Elegant and Elevated Event Spaces
Offering a total of 2,800 square meters of event space that is sophisticated and striking, the hotel is worthy of the type of weddings and special gatherings that are anticipated in the country. A major design element in these spaces is the dedication to flow, with a spectacular sky gazing atrium in the events foyer, adorned with brilliant white geometric patterns.
Special emphasis was placed on pre-event zones. The exquisite bridal suite, a plush boardroom, and a fully functional executive office are all adorned with fluted lacquer doors, exquisite vertical panelling, and sturdy geometry that speaks to the strong cultural aesthetic.
Grand Culinary Experiences
Carving a place for itself within the rich culinary landscape of what has affectionately been named the food capital of the Middle East, and as an integral part of the multi-sensory versatility, Grand Hyatt Kuwait features three standalone lifestyle dining venues.
‘Stambul, a theatrical Turkish dining experience celebrating the famed influences of Turkish food. Visiting ‘Stambul leaves one feeling feel like they are taking a walk with a lifelong resident of Istanbul, showcasing poetry in each alley, crowded shop and each beautiful café. Elements from the long-standing Turkish history give the space its special interior design, from the spectacular hanging lights and elaborate wall patterns to the decorative copper items adorning each table. ‘Stambul houses segregated show kitchens, including a sand coffee station. Slabs of stunningly prepared Turkish, Mediterranean and Ottoman recipes are infused with a modern lighter attitude. All dishes are prepared fresh daily at each of the food hall’s stations – over charcoal on the grill, sizzling on the spit, or baked in the clay oven. Everything at ‘Stambul is made by hand, from the smoky charcoal-grilled kebabs to oven-cooked meat, chicken, fish and vegetarian dishes.
Liberté, a Modern Brasserie – The casual-chic, laid-back sophistication of Liberté is what particularly inspires a sense of freedom to be present, authentic and visible, making for the perfect place to share genuine connection and weave memorable moments. Notwithstanding the classic roots of the traditional brasserie, Liberté puts forward a unique, modern twist on the experience, challenging its guests’ expectations and provides for a much-loved societal encounter. Instead of abandoning the old to make way for the new, Liberté inspires modernity from classicism, creating a stylistic melting pot where boundaries are blurred and a new, reimagined identity prevails. Liberté’s aesthetic splendour is easily matched with the culinary experience it offers. From breakfast infused with the signature warmth of feminine energy to reimagined brasserie cuisine spiced with creativity and innovation, and even pastries and cakes redolent of indulgence, Liberté’s guests are up for a real treat regardless of their choices.
MEI LI – Integrating Asia’s rich heritage and culture with modern elements and an experiential flair, specialty restaurant MEI LI at Grand Hyatt Kuwait has already become the most favoured Asian restaurant in Kuwait. The novel concept celebrates contemporary Pan Asian cuisine rooted in tradition, adding an engaging and differentiated offering to Kuwait’s dining landscape. The name MEI LI, meaning “beautiful and full of grace” in Mandarin, perfectly translates throughout all aspects of the experience. From the stunning interiors and innovative food presentation to the engaging service style, everything is considered, beautiful and delivered with grace.
The Grand Hyatt Design Recipe
Guests and area residents are transported into a new and exciting world when they cross the threshold of a Grand Hyatt hotel. Unique touches of local flair appear in new forms and uses, imaginatively and creatively transformed from the typical into something unexpected and entirely interesting. Throughout the hotel’s environment, design and décor are enlivened with concepts and detailing inspired by the area’s art, architecture, crafts, customs and archetypes. It is local in essence but reframed and reconstructed to become a part of the uniquely cosmopolitan and distinctively glamorous Grand Hyatt hotel sensibility.
