Residence Affairs Investigation officers have referred a female government employee to the Public Prosecution for accepting bribe to cancel a violation.
A security source told Al-Anba an officer in the Residence Investigation Affairs Department received information that an Asian had connections to cancel violations issued against restaurants if the concerned owner of the restaurant was ready to bribe the employee in the concerned government department.
Upon further investigation, it was found that the Asian was working for an employee who was carrying out this illegal work, and a trap was set for the suspect in coordination with the Public Prosecution.
The source added, the officer contacted the Asian with an offer to help him cancel a violation issued against a restaurant. The Asian asked for 2,000 dinars, and after the money was paid with the knowledge of the Prosecution and the Asian was put under surveillance.
The marked currency the Asian then handed over to the employee following which she was arrested, and the money in her possession was seized.
The female employee has been referred to the Public Prosecution. The Asian reportedly has a criminal past.
