The government is studying a proposal not to renew the contracts of recreational parks that manage public chalets built on state property but favors re-offering the expired contracts to specialized companies.

Informed sources told Al-Rai that the extensions of BOT contracts for projects intended to be re-offered in public bidding ended between 2018 and 2019 without being renewed so far and explained that this approach is still under study, and if implemented, it may include re-offering the contracts of 8 parks in different areas through bids.

The sources pointed out that the final version of approving this approach overlaps in terms of reference between the Ministry of Finance and the Supreme Committee for Partnership Projects between the public and private sectors, noting that among the proposals is to assign management of public parks projects during the transitional period between receiving the project from the current investor and handing it over to the new contractor.
