The government is reportedly drawing up a list of owners of fictitious accounts on social media sites, especially those promoting sedition in the country.
The authorities plan to close down these sites and refer the names of the owners to the public prosecution which is expected to summon the suspects living in the country for further interrogation. Legal proceedings will also be initiated against those owners living abroad through Kuwait’s embassies there.
The Government Communications Center is said to have recently met with representatives of all government agencies to discuss the issue and asked them to use the latest technology to combat rumors, saying this can be done by forming special teams in each ministry.
The government agencies were also urged to interact with the public through WhatsApp and by developing the accounts of ministries on other social media platforms.
