Minister of Municipality Dr. Rana Al-Faris, while chairing the first meeting of the Higher Committee for Planning in the Kuwait Municipality, with Deputy Director-General for Urban Planning Affairs and structural planner Muhammad Al-Zoubi and Eng. Abdullah Al-Akshan commissioned the inventory of the lands proposed for new housing areas to be presented to the Council of Ministers in preparation for handing these lands over to the Public Authority for Housing Welfare.

Al-Qabas quoting sources from the Supreme Committee said a visual presentation was given by the Urban Planning Monitor in the Structural Planner Department Eng. Youssef Al-Azmi, in the study of the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, in which he jotted down the problems facing the area, including security, environment, and infrastructure, especially given the population density which is higher than that of Farwaniya and Mahboula combined.

Al-Azmi indicated the only solution to eliminate the problems of the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area is to evaluate 5 plots which contain about 1,400 private housing properties, especially in blocks “1, 2, 3, 13, and part of 4”, so that these plots of land can be reorganized, planned and put up for sale in a public auction or handed over to the real estate developer, indicating that there are some investment buildings and this issue can be resolved according to how the area is reorganized.

The source explained that the value of the real estate in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh will be higher than its sale value, but the state will profit a lot by eliminating its problems and transforming it into a model high-end area, in addition to the huge money lost due to theft of public services, including electricity.

The source indicated that the committee discussed the issue of bachelors housing, and decided to assign the job to the head of the committee to follow up on the phenomenon of bachelors housing to prepare a detailed report that includes the committee’s work statistics and to re-present the proposed sites for the labor cities project in the Jahra governorate and assign the legal advisor to follow up the necessary legislative amendments.
