There is a tendency to stabilize the prices of energy subsidies as part of the government’s efforts to contain the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
A local Arabic daily quoting informed source said that the committee which has been formed in this regard will study various types of state subsidies provided by the Ministry of Finance which is concerned with reviewing the prices of subsidized commodities and will most likely take a decision to stabilize the prices of subsidized commodities.
The sources stated that the price stabilization will include all commodities included in the list of subsidies, including gasoline, diesel, and gas cylinders.
This month the committee will re-examine the various types of subsidies, according to the decision of the Council of Ministers, and review the prices as is the practice every 3 months to ensure rationalizing subsidies and monitoring the repercussions of new prices.
According to the fuel price bulletin in Kuwait since the first of last January, gasoline (excellent – 91 octane) is sold at 85 fils per liter; gasoline (special – 95 octane) at 105 fils per liter, diesel at 115 fils per liter and kerosene is sold at 115 fils per liter, while the price of gasoline (Ultra – 98 octane) has been increased to 200 fils per liter instead of 180 fils.
