The French embassy stated when hiring a person in France, it is necessary to declare the salary for social insurance and then pay the due contributions according to the number of working hours, the total salary period and the employment period based on the work contract.

This is in response to what was published by “Al-Qabas” in its issue issued last Thursday, corresponding to January 26, about France imposing fees on domestic workers accompanying families (employers).

The French embassy in Kuwait clarified that according to the French Labor Law, domestic workers fall within the category of employed persons working in the private sector.

Therefore, the sponsor must pay the worker’s social insurance, which was recently applied to all domestic workers accompanying the sponsors.

The embassy clarified that these fees are included in the state budget and are applicable in many European countries, stressing that these fees do not apply only to Kuwaitis, but to all nationalities.

The embassy added, “According to French law, when hiring a person in France, it is necessary to declare the salary for social security and then pay the social contributions due to the French state, noting that the subscription fee depends on the number of working hours for the employee, the total net salary paid to him and the period of employment.”

The embassy also noted that this rule applies to all employers in the private sector, regardless of their nationality or the nationality of their employees, and therefore does not apply in particular to Kuwaiti citizens.
