Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Monday that the world lost “a great leader and an outstanding diplomatic and humanitarian figure” with the death of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Ki-moon added, according to a statement by the Kuwaiti embassy in South Korea, while offering condolences for the death of His Highness the late Amir, that His Highness the Amir was one of the most supportive of local, regional and global causes, especially the humanitarian ones.

Ki-moon said that His Highness worked to host many activities, events, and regional and international conferences for his country, to support and support many of these issues, especially the Syrian issue. “I worked closely when I was Secretary-General of the United Nations with the late emir, and I found him a rare figure and supporter of various world issues and a bearer of his concerns, as he did not spare any effort to provide a helping hand or assistance towards solving the issues of the Arab nation, especially the Palestinian issue,” he said. He stressed that “the late Amir was able, with his wisdom and insightful vision, to place Kuwait on the world map and establish the foundations of relations with brotherly and friendly countries.”

He expressed his sincere condolences to the Kuwaiti leadership and the Kuwaiti people on the death of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, saying that “his death was a tragedy for the world in general and for me in particular.”
