Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested a significant number of employees of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy working outdoors.

They are charged with manipulating attendance fingerprint records. A security insider informed Al-Jarida that detectives received confidential information suggesting that several employees across various external locations were using “silicone fingerprints” to mark their attendance without physically being present. This scheme involved collaboration with a foreign security employee and a local employee, for a fee.

The source clarified that the detectives discovered the “silicone” fingerprints used to falsify attendance records in the possession of the security guards and Kuwaiti employees. These were confiscated and sent to the CID Department for matching with the actual fingerprints of employees assigned to those locations.

The source further noted that detectives succeeded in arresting several employees, who were subsequently detained under the order of the Public Prosecution. However, there are still other employees at large, and efforts are underway to identify them in coordination with forensic investigators.

In a related development, sources within MEW revealed that the uncovering of the fingerprint forgery operation initiated with a report from an employee at one of the external sites.

The Ministry promptly notified the Ministry of Interior, which then took necessary actions to arrest those involved. The Ministry itself has not taken any immediate actions in this regard, as the case is currently under the jurisdiction of the Public Prosecution.
