In the historical process of the formation and development of Tajikistan as a sovereign and independent state, its foreign policy occupies a worthy place. The specific historical conditions for the development of independent Tajikistan, the features and content of the international transformation over the past quarter-century, determined the special importance of the external factor in the life of Tajik society and the close connection of the country’s internal development with international reality.
In the contradictory situation of the first years of independence, the establishment of external relations and a worthy representation of Tajikistan in the international arena was one of the most important directions of state-building.
From this point of view, September 29, 1993 is considered a really important date in the modern history of foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan. On this memorable day, from the high rostrum of the United Nations, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon for the first time presented to the entire world community creative plans, peaceful goals and good intentions of the young independent state of Tajikistan as an equal subject of international relations.
From the point of view of content, ideas and political aspects, this event has historical significance not only for the diplomats of the country, but also for independent Tajikistan. Hence, starting from 2016, September 29 Tajikistan celebrates the “Day of Employee of Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Tajikistan.”
To this day, every member of the diplomatic mission of Tajikistan respects and fulfills all the goals and intentions mentioned more than two decades ago. Today, Tajik diplomats stand out for their dedication and hard work in the name of peace and cooperation. The people of Tajikistan expect diplomats to serve them, defend their rights and open up new horizons for achievement. We are glad to see new righteous undertakings that give Tajikistan significant development. Nevertheless, the people of Tajikistan place their hopes for the prosperity of Tajikistan on the shoulders of Tajik diplomats.
