While admitting that there were a ‘few’ cases of domestic helper abuses in Kuwait, outspoken lawmaker Ahmad Al-Fadhl has claimed that some foreign countries were using the issue to target Kuwait and they should not be allowed to blackmail the country.

Pointing out that domestic worker abuses took place all over the world, the parliamentarian accused Al-Durra Company of failing to carry out its job. It is worth noting that the company had been formed through a law passed by the National Assembly, and was tasked with recruiting domestic helpers from abroad to help reduce the recruitment costs to families in the country.
