While Kuwait Airport resumed, yesterday, direct commercial flights from India, after about a year and a half of stoppage, due to the emerging “Corona” virus pandemic, the Civil Aviation Administration announced that flights with Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh are in the process of operational scheduling.
Jazeera Airways’ first flight landed from Kochi in the morning, followed by a Kuwait Airways flight from Bombay, while the total number of 5 flights from India.
Director of Operations Department at the General Administration of Civil Aviation, Mansour Al-Hashemi, said in an exclusive statement to Al-Rai that in implementation of the decisions of the Council of Ministers, yesterday morning, we witnessed the resumption of arrival and departure of the commercial flights between Kuwait and India.
He added, “After operating the direct line with Egypt, India came to be among the countries that operate flights to and from Kuwait, followed by Pakistan, of which 1 flight was operated.
As for Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh, direct flights to and from them have not yet been operated. It is expected that within a few days, flights to those countries will start, after setting and determining the schedule of operational flights for airlines, to be among the countries allowed to travel to and from them, and to lift the ban on them, after the decision of the Council of Ministers, which specified those countries that were previously prohibited.
Al-Hashemi indicated that 8 flights arrived from the Republic of Egypt, 5 flights from India and a flight from Pakistan, according to the flights scheduled yesterday, noting that the administration is doing its best to facilitate the movement of departure and arrival for all passengers, in accordance with the health requirements in the country
