The Kuwaiti Fishermen’s Union has conveyed its profound disappointment concerning the ongoing challenges faced by the local marine industry.

They particularly lament the recent developments, including decisions made without proper consideration. One such decision that has had a significant impact is the reduction in the allocation of gasoline and diesel, leading to a halt in fishing operations for over half of the previous month, reports Al-Jarida daily.

In a statement, the union has posed a crucial question, asking who should be held accountable for the losses endured by fishermen and the consequent disruption of fishing activities in the country.

They added this disruption was primarily caused by the depletion of the diesel quota, allocated to fishermen, a staggering 13 days before the end of the preceding month, resulting in the fishing boats anchored at Sharq and Fahaheel.
