The Public Prosecution Office is preparing a list of names of 17 male prisoners of various nationalities who will be allowed to serve their prison terms from their homes.
The Al-Anba daily quoting sources said they will be required to wear an ‘electronic bracelet’ and are sentenced to less than 3 years in prison on charges such as beating, breach of trust and other charges which do not fall under the serious crimes category. The sources indicated the Ministry of Interior is expected to give its approval by the next week at the latest.
The sources stressed the Public Prosecution and the Ministry of Interior will keep a track on the prisoner and if he leaves his home, he will be arrested and returned to prison.
