At least ten people were killed and more than 100 others injured, in an explosion in a fireworks warehouse in southern Thailand, which caused great damage to the area surrounding the warehouse, while the police summoned the owner, who is accused of negligence, amid investigations into the illegal storage of fireworks.

The French news agency reported that the explosion, which occurred in the town of Sungai Kolok yesterday afternoon, was caused by a welding process in a building where fireworks are stored illegally, reports Al-Rai daily.

The governor of the Thai province of Narathiwat, Sanan Pongaksorn, said in a press conference: “We have identified 10 (dead) people and found body parts from two bodies whose identities we have not yet been able to identify.” But initial reports are different.
