In an exceptional humanitarian step the directors of residency affairs departments in the six governorates have received instructions to amend the status of children of expat residents who are illegal, Al Qabas daily reported.
Parents can amend the status of their children who are less than a year old and born in Kuwait without paying any fines. Informed sources told Al-Qabas daily that the instructions stipulated that the children of any resident who were born in Kuwait on or after November 2, 2019 can be referred to the General Directorate of Investigations, with the aim of creating a database for them in accordance with Article 6 of the residency law, after which their status would be modified by granting them residence sponsored by the father and without paying fines for the period of violation
