Instructions have been issued to the Residency Affairs Departments in the six governorates to stop issuing family entry visas until further notice.

A security source told a local Arabic daily this came upon the instructions of the senior leadership in the Ministry of Interior, however, saying that specific segments such as doctors will be excluded from this decision.

The source added the decision is not applicable to those who have already been issued family visas. The decision follows another decision that was issued earlier to stop issuing family visit visas or issue them on a limited scale upon the discretion of the Assistant Undersecretary for Residency Affairs and the Director General of Residency Affairs, until completion of a study to legalize the process of visit visas.
