The Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior dispatched security personnel to a home in the Capital Governorate after receiving reports that a young Kuwaiti was holding his family hostage in their home.

Arriving on the scene, the police found the young man, under the influence of alcohol, was holding his entire family hostage and threatening to kill them.

The police team first tried to talk to the man and get him to surrender, but eventually decided to storm the house.

The police soon overpowered the man, removed the weapon from his hands, handcuffed him and led him away to the police station, to a sigh of relief from his family members and the assembled crowd.

The weapon used by the hostage-taker was later identified to be an air-pressure gun.
