What was circulated on social media regarding the death of an elderly expatriate in front of Farwaniya Hospital was false. Revealing the details of this incident, Al-Rai daily stated that what happened was an elderly Asian patient arrived at Al-Farwaniya Hospital, who was infected with coronavirus about two months ago. The hospital provided the necessary medical care for the patient to recover from the coronavirus, and repeatedly tried to contact his sponsor and his country’s embassy to help him leave the hospital after not reaching one of his relatives.

After repeated and numerous attempts to contact the sponsor who expressed consent to receive him, the hospital gave him a permit to leave, and he waited at the hospital door for the sponsor, who did not show up, so the workers had to return him again to the emergency ward where he was receiving medical care at around a month after he left the coronavirus wing following his recovery.

The daily noted that what was circulated about the death of the patient outside the hospital is a shame, as the patient was returned to the hospital after making sure that his sponsor was not available after a period of waiting, and the Ministry of Health had opened an investigation into the incident to uncover the circumstances and the reasons that led to the death rumors.
