The demand for importing cosmetics and decorations in Kuwait decreased during the nine months of last year 2021, by 8.2%. Experts attributed the reason to the obligatory wearing of the face masks in many places, which reduced the need to apply cosmetics.
According to a local Arabic daily, the official figures revealed — according to statistics issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry — the value of cosmetics that were imported during the last nine months 2021 was 20.7 million dinars, compared to the import of similar products worth 23 million of the corresponding period in 2020.
The list of imported items includes cosmetics, cosmetics, and skin care products (other than medicines), including sun protection products and hand and foot care products.
The statistics also showed Kuwait’s import of synthetic hair fittings ‘wig’ worth about 15 million dinars, during the same period, a jump from the period before ‘Corona’, which amounted to 11 million dinars.
