The Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Al-Mahboula areas were placed under lockdown with the aim of containing the coronavirus and its spread, before other areas, Hawalli, Khaitan and Al-Farawaniyah were added to the list, reported Al Rai daily.  The Jleeb area was justified for lockdown due to the large number of bachelors and marginal labor that would allow the coronavirus to spread. The Mahboula area is very different due to the difference in the quality of the population and their professions, though there are many marginal workers affiliated with companies that rented buildings and complexes due to low rents.

In the Mahboula area, there are large buildings with Europeans, American and other nationalities in good and high professions, and some of them even work in the American army and in oil companies. The lockdown in the area has impacted the residents of those nationalities, many of whom are now planning to leave the area, immediately after the lockdown has been lifted, especially after suffering due to lack of proper services.

For about three months since the lockdown, residents in Mahboula have complained of unjust treatment for many reasons, despite the area being inhabited by a large group of foreigners with prominent positions and Kuwaitis, they were treated like other marginal workers, reported the daily.  They voiced their displeasure that Mahboula lacks basic services such as a coop, and one of the schools was chosen and equipped as a branch of a cooperative society but did not meet all the needs of the people. Many who were used to shopping in cooperatives and parallel markets in the neighboring areas, were now prevented from leaving due to the lockdown.

According to the accounts of the residents of Mahboula, the area also does not have a center for distributing gas cylinders and other supplies. Many foreigners, especially Americans and Europeans, are eager to move to another area immediately after a decision will be issued to end the lockdown in Mahboula.
