The Director General of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Educational Zone, Muhammad Ayed Al-Ajmi, arrested an expatriate teacher accused of trimming off a student’s hair at the end of her shift last Thursday, an Arab daily reported.

Al-Ajmi told the daily that a suspension has been issued on the teacher until investigations are completed. The school administration has been informed of the decision. He added that the legal affairs conducted an investigation to find out the reasons that led the suspect to cut the student’s hair, noting that the final decision will be taken following investigations.

The official expressed his rejection of the alleged behavior against students and pledged to protect them from harm. He stressed adherence to the rules and regulations, and to avoid insulting students in any way. An informed educational source revealed that the services of the accused expat teacher will be terminated this week.

The Ministry of Education issued a statement that the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education, Osama Al-Sultan, visited the school affiliated to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Educational Zone, to ensure the incident’s authenticity and take the necessary measures. The Ministry affirmed its keenness to preserve the safety of all students, and does not tolerate any similar incident inside or outside the school premises.
