On behalf of the government and people of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and that of my own, I would like to convey my warmest greetings and congratulations to the government and people of the State of Kuwait on the 60th anniversary of National Day and 30th anniversary of Liberation Day.

Ethiopia and Kuwait enjoy historical and cultural relations. These relations have gained momentum since both countries have opened their respective Embassies in 1997. Our bilateral, economic and people to people relations have grown ever stronger over the last years.  Ethiopia and Kuwait share the same values and are strong supporters of regional integration and multilateralism, which contributes to the strengthening of peace and security in their respective regions and beyond. A series of high-level visits from the two countries have been made at various times resulting in the signing of several agreements.
The economic relations have also gained momentum as Ethiopian government has undertaken successive reforms. As one of top investor destinations in Africa, Ethiopia has maintained investor interest from Kuwait, and I hope that the structural reform programs in Ethiopia and the recent launch of African Continental Free Trade Area will increase investments to the country.

Ethiopia is also one of favorite travel destinations for many Kuwaitis and the Gulf country hosts quite a number of Ethiopian expatriates.  Moreover, Kuwait has been providing financial support for various development projects in Ethiopia through the Kuwait Development Fund for Arab Economic Development. I am confident that our relations will further strengthen in the years ahead to our mutual benefit.

Let me conclude my message by extending again my best wishes to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his personal well-being, success, and health, as well as peace and prosperity to all citizens of the country as you celebrate your National and Liberation Days.

H.E. Abdulfatah Abdullahi Hassan
Ambassador of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
