Kuwait’s Environment Public Authority Director General, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, authorised the Environmental Inspection and Control Department to take action against violators of environmental policies by deporting suspects.

According to Al-Ahmad, one of the ministry’s extreme measures is to deport any resident caught breaking environmental laws, including fishing in Kuwait’s shoreline, littering, stealing sand, and any kind of offenses that could cause environmental harm. The Minister also instructed inspectors to withhold violators’ civil IDs and hand them over to respective police stations until procedures are completed for their deportation.

As a move to strictly enforce the law and tighten penalties, the Ministry aims at advocating for respect for the environment and closely monitoring expatriates committing pollution and violating fishing laws in the country.
