The Ministry of Education recently discovered that a large number of its employees, who are currently outside the country, continue to receive their salaries despite the issuance of a decision to stop the payment of their salaries since August last year, Al Anba daily reported.

The matter has prompted the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Affairs Osama Al- Sultan to instruct the educational districts to investigate the matter and provide him with a detailed report no later than Monday.

According to the Arabic daily, Al-Sultan wrote a letter to the educational districts in which he said “With reference to the letter of the assistant undersecretary for Financial Affairs that includes the names and other information about workers who are currently outside the country and have not resumed work till date. Despite the decision to suspend the salaries of such workers, no salary suspension decisions have been issued against them.”

In the letter, Al-Sultan instructed the competent authorities of respective districts to verify the issuance of salary suspension decision against those workers stranded abroad and demanded a detailed report that includes the reasons for not issuing the salary suspension decision.
