The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Kuwait held its diplomatic night event at Al Baraka Ballroom of the Crown Plaza Wednesday evening. The auspicious occasion was hosted by Charges D’ Affaires (CDA) Atty. Raul Dado and spouse and attended by the members of the diplomatic community, invited guests and Filipino nationals.

Director of Asian Affairs Mohammad Al-Roumi and officials from Kuwait’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interiors graced the occasion. In a brief yet inspiring message delivered by CDA Dado, lauded the Kuwait government for extending its generosity, kindness and compassion to distressed Filipino workers and mentioned officials’ concern for their tireless effort to provide assistance and support to all Filipino nationals.

He also mentioned specially the hard work Filipino household workers provide their resiliency amidst the trials they go through every day. CDA Dado expressed his optimism that Filipinos will continue to shine and be a productive a partner towards the country’s development and progress. The ceremonial cutting of the cake was officiated by CDA Dado and Al-Roumi.

As the reception followed, series of traditional Filipino dances were presented on stage namely; Singkil, a royal dance from the southern part of the Philippines, Sua Ku Sua, a dance that romanticized the relationship between the Tausug tribe and their harvest, Surtido, a Visayan quadrille dance, La jota Moncadena, a dance popularized by Spanish gentlemen and young women and finally Habanera De Jovencita, a dance of young women. Filipino popular tenor Jummel Carvajal and soprano Christine Torres belted out two popular solo numbers and performed a final piece popularized by the former Philippine President Marcos and wife Imelda “Dahil sa iyo” or Because of you, much to the delight of the foreign audience.

Several Ambassadors and prominent personalities were also interviewed by Philippine media as they expressed their warm wishes to all Filipinos in Kuwait and around the world. Among the Ambassadors interviewed by GMA 7 Philippines were Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Sri Lanka, Togo and diplomats from Mexico, USA and other countries in Asia. Prominent radio and television and media personality Adeeb Shuhaiber and Pastor Jun Nones of the Filipino Language Christian Community conveyed his greetings and thanked the organizers for giving their members the chance to perform during the event.
