The event, organized by the Press Section of Pakistan Embassy under the auspices of Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Syed Abrar Hussain, saw young students competing in different categories such as Essay writing, declamation, Bait Bazi and the Quiz and captivating the audience with their brilliant performances. Rida Ali Sajid and Umaymah Ijaz from Pakistan School, Mangaf clinched the first prize in Quiz contest by defeating the opponent team from Pakistan Sunshine School, Hawally. Whereas Maryam Amir and Manal Abdul Haq of Pakistan English School & College, Jleeb Shuyoukh emerged victorious in Bait Bazi contest against Pakistan School, Salmiya .
The Essay Writing competition was further divided into Urdu and English categories. Incia Haider of New Pakistan International School, Hawally, Lubna Aziz of Pakistan School, Jleeb and Ayesha Maqsood of Pakistan School, Mangaf grabbed first, second and third prizes respectively in Urdu whereas Syeda Nahel Zaeem of Pakistan School, Salmiya, Sadia Abdul Razzak of New Pakistan International School, Hawally and Samia Riaz of Pakistan School, Mangaf took the top slots in English category in that order.
The declamation contest was sub-divided into senior (Grade 9 & above) and junior (Grade 5-8) categories. Here, Sabah Arshad of Pakistan School, Mangaf secured first prize in the senior category followed by Hasan Fraz of International School of Pakistan, Khaitan and Maryam Amir of Pakistan English School, Jleeb as second and third respectively. For the junior category, Mamoona Mustafa of Pakistan Gulf English School, Fahaheel and Anfal Bukhari of Pakistan School, Salmiya both were declared winners for the first prize, whereas Sulaiman Irfan of Pakistan National English School, Hawally and Muhammad Usman Hanif of Pakistan English School, Jleeb Shuyoukh got second and third positions respectively. Another significant aspect of the evening was presentation of beautifully choreographed tablos by children from Pakistan School, Mangaf and Pakistan Excel English School, Jleeb that added much to the delight of the spectators.
The Ambassador of Pakistan, who was also the chief guest of the ceremony, congratulated the winning students. He expressed his appreciation to the all the school administration, teachers and the parents whose hard work, he said, was duly reflected in the performances. He said the objective of the competition was to create awareness among young Pakistani students about their great national heroes like Alaama Iqbal. He said Iqbal was not only a poet but also a great thinker and philosopher who influenced the intellectual elite of his times and guided the Muslim nation.
He inspired the educated classes of Indo-Pak subcontinent through his poetry. His poetry provided a new vigor and inspiration to the struggling Muslims of subcontinent for their rights and independence. His poetry serves as the guideline for the present Muslim Ummah as a whole, he added. At the end, the Ambassador distributed shields and certificates among the winning teams and students.
He also expressed his appreciation to the sponsors of the event including Pakistan Business Council, Bahrain Exchange Company, Al-Kazemi Air Cargo Services, Air Arabia and Abraaj Water. He especially commended the efforts of Hala Pakistan team, which he said, greatly contributed in making the event a thumping success.
