Ambassador of Ukraine to Kuwait H.E. Dr. Oleksandr Balanutsa hosted a reception last week on the occasion of his country’s Day of Unity, at the Kuwait University, College of Arts. Minister of Trade and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan was the chief guest on the occasion, which was witnessed by members of the diplomatic corps, Kuwaiti officials, Ukrainian nationals, and media personnel.

In his address to the gathering, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Oleksandr Balanutsa expressed his happiness over the welcome and hospitality he received since his arrival in Kuwait.

Ambassador Balanutsa remarked, “It is a great honor for me to stand before you on the Day of Ukraine’s unity when unity symbolizes power and friendship, and this is what we feel in Kuwait.

“We the Ukrainian community have been blessed with a government that helps in all fields, asking: What is Ukraine? I always say it is different, we have prepared this map, where everyone can choose to define Ukraine, it is a country with high technology and scientific and academic base, a country of culture and civilization,” he pointed out.

Ambassador Balanutsa admitted, “I am honored to represent Ukraine as an ambassador in Kuwait, and last week we held the ‘Week of Ukraine in Kuwait’ event, which included more than 20 various activities, including sports, culture, health, trade, music, etc., to show that Ukraine is different and strong, and has met with great success and a good turnout from the public in Kuwait.”

For his part, Chairman of the Ukrainian-Arab Commercial Council, Dr. Imad Abu Alrub, commended the development he witnessed in Kuwait.

Dr. Abu Al-Rub lauded the Kuwaiti and Ukrainian relations that extend for decades, as Kuwait was the first Arab country to open an embassy in Kiev. Noting the relations between the two friendly countries are witnessing increasing growth, he mentioned that there are many fields to explore in culture, energy, education, arts, trade, industry and technology, so that they can achieve success together for the benefit of both countries.

Speaking on the sidelines of the function, Minister of Trade and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan extended praise for the strength of Kuwaiti-Ukrainian relations which are witnessing a positive development in all economic, cultural, scientific and other fields.

Highlighting the high trade exchanges between Kuwait and Ukraine, Al-Roudhan noted that the two countries’ relations are strong and added that there is coordination and meetings for the interest of the two countries. 

On the sidelines of the function, a photography exhibition devoted to the Day of Unity of Ukraine titled ‘The Unity of Ukrainian People Throughout the Years’ and a children’s art exhibition titled ‘Happy Child – Prosperous Ukraine’ were organized. The popular Ukrainian performers who participated in Ukrainian week provided the entertainment for the gathering.
