The Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity Transmission Networks Sector and Monitoring and Control Centers at the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Mutlaq Al-Otaibi, called on the Ministry’s clients to rationalize the consumption of electric energy.
Al-Otaibi said in a press statement that the electric consumption index reached Friday, about 14950 megawatts, a maximum when the temperature reaches 52 degrees Celsius, stressing that the ministry has sufficient electric power, but this does not mean excessive consumption of electricity, Al Qabas daily reported.
He explained that one of the ways to reduce electrical energy consumption is to replace the old air conditioning units with the new ones, according to the Inverter system.
He stated that if 500 consumers replaced the old air-conditioning units with the new ones, 6 to 3 kilowatts would be saved, equivalent to 50 percent of the previous total consumption, with a total savings of about 1,500 megawatts, which is equivalent to the production of a complete power plant.
