Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi mourned the loss of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, saying Arab and Islamic nations have lost a “leader, who was one of their dearest men.”
In a tweet, President Al-Sisi went on to express his sincere condolences and commiserations to the people of Kuwait over the loss, praying for mercy upon the soul of the late Amir. Egypt has declared a three-day state of public mourning across the country until Thursday. Earlier in a statement, the Egyptian government described the late Amir as a “great leader of unique standing.
“His Highness the Amir of Kuwait was a wise leader, who dedicated his life to serving his people and humanity, as a whole,” read the statement by government spokesman Bassem Radhi. “His efforts and accomplishments remain lodged in our memories, and he will remain an icon in leadership, hard work and generosity.” Egypt, in these painful circumstances, should remember with gratitude and appreciation the fraternal stances of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad and his prominent role in the development of Kuwait and Arab and Islamic nations.
“On behalf of Egypt and Arab and Islamic nations, President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi (of Egypt) mourns the loss of a dear brother and friend, and expresses his sincere condolences and commiserations to the brotherly people of Kuwait and his (His Highness the late Amir’s) noble family over this grievous loss,” added the statement. It went on to pray for mercy upon the soul of the deceased.
