The Egyptian government on Friday denied issuing a decision to close the famous archaeological and touristic pyramids area in Giza Governorate for two months as part of the development plan.

The media center of the Egyptian Council of Ministers said in a statement that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities confirmed that the pyramids area is open to all visitors, Egyptians and foreigners, and that no decisions have been issued regarding its closure, and that everything is proceeding as normal, reports Al-Rai daily quoting KUNA.

However, the government statement indicated that the work of the “Development of the Pyramids of Giza” project includes the development of the archaeological area, its entrances, its surroundings, and the visitors’ center, with the aim of raising the efficiency of the services provided to improve the experience for visitors and tourists but it will not hamper visitors.
