The Head of the Dermatology Department at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, and Treasurer of the Kuwaiti Dermatologists Association, Dr. Manar Al-Enezi, said fungal infections, which are among the most common diseases during the rainy season must he avoided at all costs.

Dr. Al-Anazi said in a statement to KUNA that fungal infections increase due to increased humidity, which provides ideal conditions, noting that cold weather and low levels of humidity lead to dry and cracked skin, causing itching and eczema.

She stressed the need to maintain the skin during this period of the year by using moisturizing creams, which are preferable to apply immediately after shower on a daily basis, avoiding shower with very hot water, and instead using lukewarm water, and reducing the time spent in the shower.

She pointed out the importance of eating vegetables and fruits of all kinds because they contain antioxidants and vitamins, and the need to eat a lot of foods rich in vitamin C, which stimulates the efficiency of the immune system to fight skin diseases in the winter season.

She also pointed out that the activities of the annual conference of the Kuwaiti Dermatologists Association will begin next Saturday under the patronage of the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, and will highlight the latest scientific research in the diagnosis and treatment of common skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, acne and psoriasis.
