License holders for delivery companies are waiting for the issuance of regulations concerning the registration of vehicles and motorcycles, Al-Qabas daily reported quoting informed sources.

Sources explained to the daily that the General Traffic Department suspended registration licenses for vehicles and bikes until a regulatory decision is issued this month. This came after setting the limit for every delivery license at 15 motorcycles and ten cars.

The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has started collecting a fee of KD 500 as a financial guarantee for every worker registered as a driver, and this amount will be returned to the owner of the license in the event that the worker leaves work or the company is closed.

The sources revealed that the license holders and the union of delivery companies intend to carry out a protest in case the regulatory decision is not issued, given that preventing the registration of vehicles and motorcycles without a legal basis disrupts their interests and the interests of the commercial establishments for which they provide the service, especially restaurants.

The sources indicated that there are 200 commercial licenses for delivery services for small projects. They affirmed delivery services serve about 30,000 licensed restaurants, in addition to various home projects, adding that the number of workers in each project ranges between 50 and 300 depending on the ability of the owner of the delivery company to license and pay financial guarantees.
