The General Directorate of Traffic is inclined to issue a decision prohibiting delivery bike services from riding on the highway, and restrict them only to deliver orders through internal roads, Al-Rai daily reported.
A well-informed security source told the daily that many accidents were caused by non-compliant delivery riders, which resulted in severe injuries. In some cases, it has led even to death as those bike riders did not adhere to the right lane on the roads. Some of them did not abide by the requirements, such as wearing a helmet, or the speed limit.
After monitoring the situation on the roads, it was found that a large portion of riders does not have driving licenses or complete knowledge of riding the bike.
The source confirmed that the decision will be enforced soon, will Delivery riders would be confined to one governorate.
